The Windy City

Chicago, Illinois otherwise known as “The Windy City '' is located on one of the

Great Lakes, Lake Michigan, and borders the Illinois border! This past weekend I traveled to the Windy City with my mom to go see my dad who works right outside of the city! We left the house Friday around 3:00 p.m. and embarked on the five-hour journey to the city!

Once arriving at our destination we unpacked and then met my dad for dinner. We ate at a local sports bar that has the famous Chicago Deep Dish Pizza, so in the spirit, we had to try it! Let me tell you, the pizza did not disappoint!! We then headed home back to our hotel and watched a movie then fell asleep after our evening of traveling!

The next morning we woke up bright and early and drove the short 35-minute drive into the city to downtown to find the parking garage we had reservations at! The goal was to not have to deal with downtown traffic, but of course, the garage we had reservations for was downtown below the AMC Theater so that goal was not met. Traffic was not bad on Saturday morning so we found our spot and started our journey through the city!

During our time in the city, we walked a little over 15 miles from one end of the city to the other packing in as much as we could in our short trip. We started the morning at Navy Pier where we saw the beautiful skyline of the city and many shops and stores along the pier. We then walked to Millenium Park where we saw the infamous “Bean!” We then headed over to the Buckingham Fountain which is truly a very pretty place. After the fountain, we ventured into the city to find the World-Famous Billy Goat Tavern and had lunch! After lunch, we traveled back to Navy Pier and walked the boardwalk, and then we took an architectural boat tour of the city which was by far the best of the day! Then we headed back to the car to head back to our hotel to meet dad for dinner after he got off work. We then enjoyed dinner for Father’s Day and then made the long yet short trip back home the following morning after we crashed in our beds right after dinner and walking all day in the city.

If you ever get the chance to go to the city, I highly recommend it!
