My Journey to the North Pole!!
One of my favorite things to do is travel if you cannot tell by my last blog! Four summers ago I traveled to Fairbanks, Alaska where we stayed in a cabin on the outskirts of the city. Fairbanks is one of the last major cities in the state that you can fly into commercially without flying via a hopper plane. My 14-day adventure in Alaska was one of my all-time favorite memories despite not having running water in our cabin and there being daylight 24 hours a day!
During the trip, we did so many things some of which include: white water rafting, restoring a river basin, fishing and catching native Alaskan Salmon, taking a steamboat tour of the Chena River, touring an Iditarod dog training facility as well as meeting an Iditarod winner, and I toured the University of Alaska’s agricultural research facility!
While traveling to one of the nearby cities called the North Pole, we stopped at the Alaskan Flour Company and toured their facility as well as took a ride through their bison farm that they had on the backside of the ranch! During this tour, we got to see anything from how agriculture works in Alaska to a wild moose and her cub who happened to be walking through the wheat fields! When we arrived at the North Pole we stopped at the world's largest Christmas store! This place was so big that it felt like you were walking for 20 minutes just to get to the other side! While at the Christmas store they had live reindeer that you could pet and feed and let me tell you that was an awesome experience! Reindeer are honestly really cute animals but the noises they make are kinda scary. Towards the end of the trip, we traveled to another nearby city where went white water rafting in water that was less than 24 hours old that had just melted from the glaciers! We slipped on our dry suits and embarked on my first ever white water rafting experience!!
My trip to Alaska was by far one of the best experiences of my life and I cannot wait to go back! If you ever have the chance to travel to Alaska you have to go, I promise it will be the best trip of your life!!
I also love to travel! Alaska is such a beautiful place and I would love to visit it someday. Touring the Iditarod training facility sounds super interesting and I have so much respect for the people who participate!
