Marketing on Facebook and Instagram

Social media platforms have many marketing strategies and marketing plans that are used to maximize views, shares, likes, comments and profitability for companies. In this week’s reading I observed all the different marketing strategies used across Facebook and Instagram.

Facebook uses several different media strategies some of which surprised me! Facebook uses a rigorous advertising algorithm that uses strategies such as the Facebook ad manager and targeting audience. One thing that stuck out to me was the rule of thirds used in social media. This rule is used to optimize the amount of content that the users will see to still keep their interest. The rule breaks down the three main parts pertaining to promoting the business, other companies posts, and content based on interactions with followers, employees and customers. This rule ensures that the customers are entertained and never bored of the media posted.

Instagram uses another algorithm that is based off several factors. Instagram has so many features and resources that can be used, some of which include stories, posts, featured page and direct messages. Stories are only posted for 24 hours at a time then disappear. A unique feature of stories is that you can share others posts to your personal story as well as interact with others’ stories. Instagram posts are based on your followers’ media that they post on your normal feed, however there is also an explore page that can be used as well. Instgram’s unique layout of everything being within one click away is very user friendly as well.
